What is Basic Savings?

Basic Savings is a pre-determined amount in EPF Akaun Persaraan, structured by age to ensure members accumulate at least RM270,000 by age 60, in accordance with the Retirement Income Adequacy (RIA) Framework. This benchmark is designed to support a sustainable monthly drawdown for approximately 20 years, aligned with Malaysia’s average life expectancy.

Any savings exceeding the Basic Savings threshold may be invested through appointed fund management institutions, enabling members to optimise returns on surplus funds.
