Kenanga Investors recently collaborated with The Edge to host a retirement forum called The Coming Third Age Crisis at Setia International Centre.

The forum which was held on 18 November 2017, covered topics such as the challenges of retirement planning, estate planning do’s and don’ts, aged care, and the market outlook for 2018.  

Invited speakers were Kenanga Investors’ Executive Director/CEO Ismitz Matthew De Alwis, Chairperson of STEP Malaysia Farah Deba Mohamed Sofian, Aged Care Group’s CEO Dr. Carol Yip, and Kenanga Investment Bank Bhd’s Head of Research Chan Ken Yew. In his presentation, Mr De Alwis spoke about the importance of viewing retirement as another chapter of life instead of an end point in order to prepare for what is to come. This false perception of retirement is one of the many reasons why many people fail to plan and sustain their life savings in their retirement years. He named several factors that have caused retirement to be more challenging than ever before – rising costs in healthcare, education, lifestyle and longer lifespan of most Malaysians today.
