Held from 27 to 29 June 2026 at Pulau Redang, Terengganu, the programme sought to combat marine pollution and promote environmental awareness practices to support the preservation of Malaysia’s coastal ecosystems.
Volunteers from local universities, BEST and a 20-member team from Kenanga Investors took part in the three-day event, which involved collecting marine debris along the coast of Teluk Dalam, its surrounding waters, and Kampung Nelayan on Pulau Redang.
In total, 456.18kg of debris was recovered, of which 56.06kg was removed from the seabed by BEST’s volunteer scuba divers, highlighting the continued effort needed to protect and preserve the island’s marine ecosystem.
Debris collected was sorted and recorded for submission to the PADI AWARE Foundation’ global database to support the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
