Safeguard Your Finances
Dear Valued Investors,
We want to take a moment to remind you about the importance of staying vigilant in the face of potential scams and phishing attempts in current times.
At Kenanga Investors, we prioritise the security and protection of your assets and personal information. We have invested significantly in robust cybersecurity measures to safeguard against these threats. However, it is crucial for each investor to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to protect themselves. Scammers and malicious actors have become increasingly sophisticated, utilizing various techniques like fraudulent emails, phone calls, and websites to deceive investors.
Here are several tips to look out for to avoid such incidents:
- Licensed – Only deal with individuals or entities that are registered or licensed by the Securities Commission Malaysia and/or the Federation of Investment Managers Malaysia.
- Verify – Always ask questions and request important information to verify the identities of the individuals or entities you are dealing with to understand their products or services before making any investment decisions.
- Evaluate – Don't allow anyone to pressure or rush you into making an investment decision. Take your time to carefully evaluate all investment opportunities and check with the relevant authorities before investing.
- Secure – Always keep your personal information secure, including your MyKad number, address, bank details, and existing investment details. Scammers often use this information to steal your identity or access your financial accounts.
- Farfetched – Be cautious of investment opportunities that not presented in writing or that seem too good to be true. These are often red flags for potential scams.
- Online – As online scams are on the rise, be especially cautious of investment advertisements you come across on the internet.
- Cashless – Be wary of unusual payment requests/methods. Legitimate transactions via cheques/bank transfers and payable to Kenanga Investors Berhad only. Cash and cash deposits are not accepted.
- Informed – Read our newsletters, website updates, and other official communications to stay informed about potential risks or alerts. Exercise caution when receiving emails, phone calls, or messages purporting to be from our firm or any other financial institution.
- Password Protection – Ensure your online accounts, including your investment account with us, have strong and unique passwords. Avoid sharing them with anyone and update them regularly.
- Website Authenticity – Always ensure that you are visiting our official website by checking the URL address and looking for security indicators such as the padlock symbol and "https" in the website's address. Avoid clicking on suspicious links or providing personal information on untrusted websites.
If you suspect any suspicious activity, please do not hesitate to contact your dedicated advisers, relationship managers or our customer service team.
We are committed to maintaining a secure investment environment for our valued investors.
Thank you for your support and trust.
