Kenanga Investors’ chief investment officer Lee Sook Yee was interviewed recently where she shares her thoughts on the various market reforms undertaken by the new government in the wake of the elections. She talks about how the banking sector may benefit from a gradual rising interest rate environment following the removal of the Goods and Services Tax (GST). Sook Yee also highlights that the tense political atmosphere in Italy and the potential hike in US rates may threaten the EU-bloc stability which are uncertainties that cloud global economy and financial markets. To combat this, she says that more defensive investment strategies will be adopted.
