FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ("FAQ")
A New Investors
1 How do I know if a Consultant is authorised to sell Unit Trust Schemes ("UTS")/ Private Retirement Scheme ("PRS")?

Only individuals registered with Federation of Investment Managers Malaysia ("FIMM") are authorised to sell UTS & PRS in Malaysia. You may check whether the individuals you are dealing with are registered with FIMM by searching for the Consultant's name/FIMM number at https://www.fimm.com.my/search/.

For added pre-caution, you can also refer to the lists of unauthorised websites, investment products, companies and individuals maintained by regulatory authorities i.e. at Securities Commission Malaysia (https://www.sc.com.my/regulation/enforcement/investor-alerts/sc-investor-alerts/investor-alert-list) and / or at Bank Negara Malaysia (https://www.bnm.gov.my/financial-consumer-alert-list).
2 How do I open an investment account with Kenanga Investors Berhad (KIB)?

You may open an account with us at our HQ in Jalan Tun Razak or at any of our branches nearest to you. Alternatively, in order to serve you better, kindly provide us your location (home/workplace) & contact details for us to assign a sales representative for you.
3 Can I transfer my money directly to my Consultant for investment purposes?

No, you must not give any cash nor conduct direct transfers to the Consultant's personal bank account as Kenanga Investors does not allow our consultants to do cash handling. Always make your payments to Kenanga Investors in the manner prescribed in the respective funds' prospectus/ information memorandum /product disclosure documents to ensure that your money is invested as intended.
4 The forms that I have to fill in to invest are too complicated. Can I just sign a few forms and pass to my Consultant to fill in the details?

Please don't hesitate to ask your servicing consultant to explain/answer any queries you may have on the forms. You are advised not to sign any blank forms i.e. pre-signing and/or pre-thumb printing the forms.

Pre-signed and/or pre-thumb printed forms are not allowed by Kenanga Investors and regulators for the protection of our investors.

Providing your servicing consultant with additional copies of pre-signed and/or pre-thumbprinted forms may result in unwanted transactions and the incurring of additional fees.
5 I made an investment in a UTS/PRS but I have just changed my mind. Can I get a refund?

Yes, you can get a 'refund' during the 'cooling-off period' (six (6) business days) provided that you have met the following criteria:
  • You are investing for the first time in a UTS/PRS offered by the unit trust management company (UTMC);
  • You are not a staff of the UTMC; or
  • You are not the person registered to deal in UTS/PRS funds of the UTMC.
You will get a refund for the amount invested and the sales charge (if any) within ten (10) calendar days. If you do not meet the above criteria for a 'cooling-off right', you will simply have to redeem your investment and incur the relevant charge.
